2. History and development of Vinh University
Founded in 1959 as Vinh Pedagogical College, Vinh University has grown in step with the development of Vinh City. In 1962, it became Vinh Pedagogical University, focusing on teacher training. By 2001, the Prime Minister upgraded it to Vinh University, marking its shift into a multi-disciplinary institution. 4. Facilities of Vinh University
Vinh University has an approved land plan of 130 ha, with 44.12 ha already in use across five campuses. The main campus at 182 Le Duan, Truong Vinh Ward, Nghe An (14 ha) houses administration, classrooms, labs, a library, dormitories, and sports facilities. The second campus (19.2 ha) supports agriculture, physical education, and defense training. The third (9.3 ha) and fourth (1.4 ha) campuses serve aquaculture practice in Ha Tinh and Nghe An. It houses over 175,000 books, 16,000 master’s theses, and 4,600 doctoral dissertations, along with a growing digital library offering more than 21,000 resources via ProQuest and other databases. Modern features include self-checkout stations, 24/7 return kiosks, scanning and digitization tools, and IT-equipped study spaces that support the university’s CDIO-based curriculum.
4.3. Center for Practice - Experimentation
Vinh University hosts 50 modern laboratories, practice workshops, art and music studios, greenhouses, and aquaculture facilities, all aligned with CDIO-based training. Specialized “school-level labs” also support teacher education. The IT network connects 15 buildings with 1 Gbps speed for 1,000+ computers, backed by 250 Wi-Fi access points and a campus-wide security camera system, ensuring smooth digital access and safety for students and staff.

4.4. Student dormitories & shared houses
The university provides 775 dormitory rooms across four sites, accommodating over 4,200 students. Facilities include hot water, air conditioning, and modern amenities, with well-maintained, secure housing at Campus I, Hung Binh, the National Defense Education Center, and Campus II Student Village.

The university’s Health Center has 8 clinics and 11 medical staff, equipped with modern facilities and supplies to provide primary care and medical services for students, faculty, and staff.

Campus canteens at Campus I and II serve over 1,000 dormitory students, ensuring food safety, balanced meals, and affordable daily menus. Shops also provide essential goods and stationery.
