Thien Cam Beach (Ha Tinh): A melody of the waves and winds

12/10/2025 290.443

Thien Cam Beach is one of the most beautiful coastal gems of Central Vietnam. With its long stretch of soft sand, clear water, and waves crashing against the shore, the beach offers a perfect blend of relaxation and discovery.

1. Overview of Thien Cam Beach (Ha Tinh)

1.1. Location

Thien Cam Beach is located in Thien Cam Commune, just 25 kilometers away from the city center of Ha Tinh. Stretching over 10 km in a graceful crescent shape, it features three main bathing areas, all with clear water and soft sand. Nestled between Voi Mountain and Thien Cam Mountain, the beach offers calm waves, tranquil scenery, and a less-crowded atmosphere that makes it an ideal destination for nature lovers.

1.2. Legends

Thien Cam Beach is also rich in legends. One story tells that during the reign of the 13th Hung King, he and his entourage rested here and were enchanted by the sound of waves blending with the winds through the mountains and trees. To the king, it sounded like a heavenly symphony, so he named the place “Thien Cam,” meaning “Heaven’s Harp.”

Another legend recalls a darker history. In 1407, when the Ming army invaded Vietnam, Ho Quy Ly and his son were captured here after their defeat, leading to the name “Thien Cam,” which can be interpreted as “Heaven’s Hold.”

2. Top things to do at Thien Cam Beach

2.1. Take part in thrilling beachside activities

Nothing beats the joy of unwinding by the sea after busy days of work. At Thien Cam Beach, more than swimming in the refreshing water, tourists can enjoy volleyball, soccer, tug-of-war, or sack races. As evening falls, you can gather around a campfire for a cozy night under the stars or try night squid fishing for a truly local experience. When it is time to rest, simply stretch out on a shaded lounge chair, sip a cool drink, and let the breeze wash your worries away.

2.2. Explore Hon En and Hon Boc islands

Adventure awaits just offshore. Hon En Island shelters a fishing village and resembles a hand cradling the coast, a haven for local fishermen. Closer to shore, Hon Boc Island intrigues tourists with oddly shaped rock formations. Both islands remain relatively pristine, perfect for explorers seeking peace away from the crowds.
