1. Where is Bac Ninh on the Vietnam map?
Before July 2025, Bac Ninh was the smallest province in Vietnam, covering 822.7 km². Located about 20 kilometers south of Hanoi, it formed part of the Red River Delta. In July 2025, Bac Ninh and Bac Giang were officially merged into a single province - Bac Ninh. The administrative center was relocated to Bac Giang.
After the merger, the new Bac Ninh map covers over 4,718 km², with a population of more than 3.6 million. This significantly expanded its geographical footprint on the Vietnam map.

3.1. Phat Tich Pagoda

3.4. Ba Chua Kho Temple

The temple consists of a large triple-arch gate, open courtyards, and main halls with wooden pillars and red-tiled roofs. There is a statue of Ba Chua Kho casted in bronze. The temple is especially popular during the Lunar New Year, when people perform the custom of “vay loc” (borrowing capital) for a prosperous year. 3.5. But Thap Pagoda
But Thap Pagoda is an architectural jewel of the Le-Nguyen era. It has courtyards, ponds, and gardens. Its greatest relic is the statue of Avalokitesvara with a thousand eyes and hands, created in 1656 by master artisan Truong Tho Nam. This work, along with the Bao Nghiem stone stupa and three other artifacts, is listed as a national treasure and prominently featured on the Bac Ninh, Vietnam map. 3.7. Temple and Mausoleum of Kinh Duong Vuong
Located in A Lu Hamlet, the Temple and Mausoleum of Kinh Duong Vuong honor the legendary first king of Vietnam, who was regarded as the ancestor of the Hung kings. The main tomb is built with a two-tier octagonal roof, decorated with traditional dragon and phoenix motifs. Within the complex, there are temples dedicated to Lac Long Quan and Au Co - the mythic parents of the Vietnamese people. The annual festival, held on the 18th day of the 1st lunar month, draws pilgrims and visitors from across Vietnam to pay homage and participate in vibrant traditional processions.

3.8. Tieu Pagoda
Tieu Pagoda is nestled on the slopes of Tieu Mountain and holds deep connections to the Early Ly Dynasty. It is traditionally believed to be where King Ly Cong Uan, the founder of Thang Long (now Hanoi), was raised and educated under the guidance of the influential Zen master Van Hanh. The complex is divided into two main sections: the upper pagoda perched high on the mountain and the lower pagoda which houses the monks’ living quarters. Across the grounds stand 14 ancient stupas, their moss-covered stones holding the remains of respected monks.
3.9. Phu Lang Pottery Village
Set along the banks of the Cau River, Phu Lang Pottery Village has preserved its craft for over seven centuries, tracing its origins back to the Tran Dynasty in the 13th century. This village is famous for its unique unglazed terracotta, crafted entirely by hand. The clay’s natural warmth gives each piece its distinct earthy hue, with no molds used in the process. Generations of artisans have perfected the skills of shaping, decorating, and firing pottery in traditional wood-fueled kilns, a process that produces the village’s signature ash glaze.

Diem Village is one of the birthplaces of Quan Ho singing, a tradition recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. At the heart of the complex stands Diem Communal House, built in 1692. A highlight here is the “cua vong” wooden screen, a masterpiece of carpentry adorned with the motifs of the 4 mythical animals (Dragon, Unicorn, Tortoise, Phoenix) and 4 mythical plants (Pine, Chrysanthemum, Bamboo, Apricot). Inside, the pagoda preserves five stone steles dating from the 19th and 20th centuries, along with a bronze bell cast in 1902.
