VIETNAM NATIONAL GOLF ASSOCIATIONS CHAMPIONSHIP 2025: PHU THO GOLF ASSOCIATION CLINCHES A HISTORIC DOUBLE

07/01/2026 1.224

From 28–30 November 2025, the 2025 National Golf Associations Championship was successfully held at Vinpearl Golf Nam Hoi An in Da Nang City. After two thrilling and highly competitive days of play, the tournament officially crowned the winners across its prize categories.

Men’s Team Event: A Four-Horse Race and a Dramatic Decider on the 18th Hole

The “four-horse race” took shape from the very first day, with four teams breaking away at the top of the leaderboard.

Heading into the final day, the Hanoi Golf Association asserted its dominance by quickly taking the lead in all six Singles Matches, holding first place for most of the round. Close behind were Bac Ninh, Phu Tho, and Quang Ngai, who constantly swapped positions and battled point by point, often separated by just 0.5 points on the standings.

As play moved into the closing holes, both Hanoi and Phu Tho had already secured four convincing victories, shifting all attention to the most anticipated head-to-head in Group A between Do Anh Duc (Phu Tho) and Nguyen Xuan Hong (Hanoi). The Hanoi player maintained a 1-up advantage after 17 holes. On the 18th, a halve would have been enough for Xuan Hong to help Hanoi defend the title. However, a superb birdie from more than 10 feet by Do Anh Duc forced the match to be halved, creating a major turning point in the overall standings.

At that moment, Hanoi and Phu Tho were tied on points, with the final outcome hinging on the match behind them between Phan Huu Tung (Phu Tho) and Huynh Quang Duc (Da Nang). After leveling the match on the 16th hole and halving the 17th, all eyes turned to the 18th green. Huu Tung found the green in regulation and calmly completed a two-putt, securing the decisive point and crowning Phu Tho champions with a total of 7.5 points—just 0.5 points ahead of Hanoi.

Phu Tho claimed victory and the men’s team championship, while Hanoi finished runners-up. Bac Ninh, the leader after the opening day, could not maintain a perfect run on day two but still added 3.5 points to secure third place and the bronze medal.

Women’s Team Event: A Reversal of Fortunes and a Well-Deserved Double Crown for Phu Tho

The women’s championship race was equally intense, with the leaderboard shifting repeatedly. The Phu Tho Golf Association women’s team ultimately emerged as deserving champions. In the final round, there was a point when Phu Tho dropped as low as sixth place, but they produced a spirited comeback hole by hole, recording three wins and one halve to clinch the title with 4.5 points.

Hai Phong and Hanoi both finished on 4 points, forcing a playoff for the silver medal. In the deciding matchup, the Hanoi Golf Association made a bold call by fielding Khuat Thi Thom (Group B) to face Vu Thi Thuan (Group A of Hai Phong). The gamble paid off: Khuat Thi Thom rolled in a long putt that left the ball just over one step from the hole, applying heavy pressure and leaving the Hai Phong player unable to respond. As a result, the Hanoi women’s team secured the silver medal, while Hai Phong took bronze.
